We are sorry to hear about the passing of Jenny Irvine-Halliday, a long-time member of Calgary Roadrunners who made a lasting contribution to the club.

Jenny was a co-founder of the very first Calgary Roadrunners cross-country race in 1986. The first race was at Nose Hill, and with her daughter Rachel she supplied home-made muffins ant drinks for runners and volunteers. The ten-race XC series grew from there and is going strong today. Jenny made and served her carrot soup at XC races for more than a decade. She expressed herself through many forms of art and design, including making clothes for CRR members.

Jenny was born in Dundee, Scotland where she worked as a nurse and midwife. She moved to Canada, spent time in Australia, and then settled in Calgary. With her husband, Dr Dave Irvine-Halliday, she co-founded Light up the World in 1997, an organization dedicated to bringing LED lighting to developing countries.
