The RD has long been eyeing the Panorama slopes as a potential cross-country course, and since the post-race venue, the Panorama Hills Residents Association is undergoing expansion and renovation, it only makes sense to have the run and apres-race socials at another place. The course will be on slopes above Hanson Ranch, starting and finishing by the statue of rancher Hanson and his dog (the dog was recently stolen, sadly).

Happy New Year and Welcome to the 2025 CRR [West] Nose Creek cross-country event, race six of the 2024-2025 Grand Prix series. The race features a short fun run for little kids at 11:45 am, followed by a mass start for ~4 km and ~8 km runners at noon.

* New Location * – Start / Finish is a few meters off the playground and Hanson’s statue, next to the Hidden Cr Dr and Hidden Cr Blvd intersection (location link) 

Parking in the parking lot of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church and along Hidden Cr Dr and Hidden Cr Blvd. Please do not block other residential roads. The CRR Club is not responsible for ticketed or towed vehicles.

Course Description – Kids run course is about ~0.5 km long on a single / double track trail. The Cross-Country route follows trails of the Panorama Hills cliff, with approximately 100m elevation gain per lap.  The lap is shorter than 4 km. Depending on the weather leading to the race, snow, ice, frozen ground, or mud may be encountered.  Shoes with a good tread, cleats or spikes are recommended. This is a beautiful open space with views of Nose Hill, Hidden Valley, West Nose Creek, Country Hills golf course, and an old limestone quarry.

Oleg and Elena are your Race Directors for the event. Please contact them to offer help – people volunteering at the event take a lot of load off RDs’ shoulders. Volunteer roles include Start/Finish setup and take-down, Timing, Finish Popsicle Sticks, Finish Results, Course Marshalling, and others.

Post-Race Meal & Social   –   at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church a short distance from start/finish across Hidden Cr Blvd. Bring your own bowl, mug, and spoon to help reduce waste, and consider bringing soup and/or dessert to share.

Race Fees   –  General entry – $12  /  Calgary Roadrunner members – $8  /  Full-time students – $6  /  Children 12 & Under are FREE.  Bring cash to start line.
