Event #7 of the 2025–2026 Grand Prix Series – the 40th Anniversary of the X/C Series!
Date: Saturday, January 24, 2026
Event overview
The Twelve Mile Coulee X/C race takes runners through one of Calgary’s most scenic natural areas, with trails winding along the benchlands and into the coulee. Expect classic cross-country conditions: snow, ice, mud, and rolling terrain. Spikes or cleats are strongly recommended.
A bit of history: the race began in West Dover in 1987–88 with Bob Dumalanede, then continued for a decade under Steve Foote. In the late 1990s, Megan Molotkow briefly moved it to the Calgary Canoe Club, before it found a lasting home in Twelve Mile Coulee (Tuscany). From 2000 to 2012, Hugh Magill directed the event and established the coulee course as a Grand Prix favourite. Adam Schultz and Kim Collier led for eight years, followed by Evan and Agatha Bayer from 2020 to 2024. Since 2024, the race has been managed by Annamaria and Kevin Bliss, who continue the tradition of tough trails and welcoming community after handling the Silver Springs XC for 4 years.
