Event #8 of the 2025–2026 Grand Prix Series Date: Saturday, February 7, 2026
Event overview
The Nose Hill X/C is the race that started it all — the very first event in what became the Calgary Roadrunners’ annual 10‑race Grand Prix cross‑country series. The tradition began on June 28, 1986, when Dr. Dave Irvine‑Halliday directed the inaugural run. Remarkably, Dave still shows up to run nearly every race today – with his dog Raven, the only dog that has rights to run X/C events. Over the years, the race has passed through the hands of several dedicated directors. Dave led the event through most of its first decade, with a sabbatical year in 1989–90 when Chris Hadfield stepped in. In the mid‑1990s, Tony Collett directed three editions, including one held at the Shaganappi side of the Hill. Rob Taerum then hosted three years at North Havenside. From 2001 through 2010, Terry and Jim Morris guided the race for nine seasons, also based out of North Haven. Since 2010, Trev Williams has been at the helm, first staging the race from Tri‑Wood and now continuing the tradition into his 16th year as Race Director, most recently from North Haven. The 2026 edition marks the 41st running of the Nose Hill race (including one virtual year in 2021). It remains a cornerstone of the Grand Prix series — combining tough hills, unpredictable winter footing, and a strong sense of community.Event Details
